The Brief

The initial brief was to build a website and forum for sufferers of Pernicious Anaemia to provide mutual help and support.

Initially the Pernicious Anaemia Society was a society, but became a registered charity in 2008.

When the society became a charity we needed to improve the website to match their expanded roles and responsiblities. We added a members only section of the website where members can download useful documents and leaflets in PDF format.

In 2009, due to an ever growing membership base, they started charging a small membership fee, and we provided integration with Worldpay and Paypal for payment.

Our Solution

We have worked closely with the Pernicious Anaemia Society since their inception, indeed our MD Jonathan was a founding trustee.

Crucial to the success of the website has been a complete absence of any spam. We have achieved this using various spam blocking technologies. We installed the spam blocker in January 2009. At the time the society were receiving around 30 spam emails per day, and at least 1 spammer joining the forum and posting unwanted material. After installing our unique spam blocking system they have not recieved a single spam email from the website, nor any spam sign-ups on the forum.
