The Brief

North Wales Choral Festival

The North Wales Choral Festival is an annual event held at Venue Cymru in Llandudno and managed and organised by the marketing department at Conwy County Borough Council.

The project was put out to tender for the 2008 North Wales Choral Festival to design and build a website for the Choral Festival and Tastic Multimedia was invited to bid. We were awarded the contract based on our initial designs and enthusiasm for the project and began work immediatly.

The site design was required to be based apon existing marketing material, media and logos already in existence. A content management system was required, and the site was required to be compliant with the latest accessibility guidelines.

The website was also required to be bi-lingual providing the ability to switch between English and Welsh.

Our Solution

We produced 2 initial designs in the tender documents and one of these with a few minor alterations was chosen to be used for the final website.

The site featured a quick top navigation for key areas of the site, an easy to find left hand menu for all of the information about the festival, the venue and previous years events. Each page has space for a prominent image to help promote the feel and aspirations of the festival, and the right hand side provides links to additional resources aswell as testimonials from choirs and audience members.

The whole project was delivered in XHTML strict and validated against Section 508 and WAI.

Initially the CMS we used was our own "Modus" CMS, but for the 2010 festival site we have migrated it to POCO by Blackbird Research.
